Privacy Policy for The Shared Cart

**Effective date: August 16, 2026**

The Shared Cart ("The Shared Cart," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use The Shared Cart mobile application (the "App") or contact us for support.

1. Information handled by the App

Shopping-list information

The App lets you create lists, categories, item names, quantities, notes, completion status, member names, and sharing selections. In the current version, this information is stored locally on your device. We do not operate a server that receives or stores this shopping-list information.

Photos and camera access

If you choose to add an item photo, the App may ask for permission to use your camera or photo library. Selected or captured photos are stored with your shopping-list data on your device.

Smart Photo Add analyzes the selected image on your device to suggest an item name and category. The current version does not upload these images to us for analysis. Camera and photo-library access are optional and may be changed in your device's Settings app.

Sign in with Apple

You can use the App without creating an account. The App may ask you to use Sign in with Apple when you attempt to share or join a list. Apple may provide the App with an account identifier and, depending on your choices and whether it is your first sign-in, your name or email address. The current version stores the Apple account identifier and display name locally on your device to remember your sign-in status. We do not currently operate an account server that receives or stores this information.

Your use of Sign in with Apple is also subject to Apple's privacy practices. You can manage apps using your Apple Account in your Apple Account settings.

Feedback and support

If you tap Submit Feedback, the App opens your device's email application with a prepared message. No message is sent unless you choose to send it. If you contact us, we receive the information you include, such as your email address, message, and any attachments. We use that information to respond to you, troubleshoot problems, and improve the App.

Automatically collected information

The current version does not include third-party advertising, cross-app tracking, or third-party analytics SDKs. We do not use the App to collect precise location, contacts, health information, financial information, or browsing history.

Apple may independently process information related to downloading, purchasing, testing, or using apps through the App Store, TestFlight, iOS, Sign in with Apple, or Apple services. Apple's handling of that information is governed by Apple's own policies.

2. How information is used

Information handled by the App is used to:

- provide shopping-list and item-photo features;

- provide on-device item recognition and category suggestions;

- remember your preferences and sign-in state;

- prepare sharing-related features that you choose to use;

- respond to support requests and feedback; and

- maintain, secure, and improve the App.

We do not sell personal information. We do not use personal information for targeted advertising or track you across apps or websites owned by other companies.

3. Sharing of information

The current version does not transmit your lists or item photos to our servers. Sharing selections and member information shown in the current development version are stored locally unless the App clearly tells you that an online sharing service has been enabled.

We may disclose information that you voluntarily send to support:

- to service providers that help us operate email or support services, subject to appropriate privacy protections;

- if reasonably necessary to comply with law, legal process, or a valid governmental request;

- to protect the rights, safety, and security of users, the public, the App, or its developer; or

- as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, or transfer of the App, subject to this Privacy Policy or notice of any material change.

We require any service provider that processes personal information for us to protect it consistently with this Privacy Policy and applicable law.

4. Storage, retention, and deletion

Shopping-list data, member names, photos, settings, and the locally saved Apple sign-in identifier remain on your device until you edit them, delete them, sign out where applicable, or remove the App. Data may also remain in device backups controlled by you or your device-platform provider.

Deleting an item or list removes it from the App's active local data. Deleting the App generally removes its locally stored App data from that device, subject to any device backups.

Support emails are retained only as long as reasonably necessary to respond, maintain appropriate business records, resolve disputes, protect the App, and meet legal obligations. You may request deletion of information you sent directly to us by using the contact information below. We may retain limited information when required by law or for legitimate security and recordkeeping purposes.

5. Your choices and controls

You may:

- use the App's local list features without signing in;

- decline or revoke camera and photo-library permissions through iOS Settings;

- edit or delete items, lists, photos, categories, and member names within the App;

- sign out of the App and manage Sign in with Apple through your Apple Account settings;

- choose whether to send a feedback email; and

- request access to or deletion of personal information that you sent directly to us.

Because we do not currently maintain a server-side account or database of your lists, we cannot retrieve or delete local information that remains only on your device. You control that information through the App and your device.

6. Security

We use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the information we handle. However, no device, storage method, or electronic transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device, Apple Account, and device backups.

7. Children's privacy

The App is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent personal information directly to us, contact us so we can review and delete it as appropriate.

8. International users

Privacy rights may vary depending on where you live. You may contact us to ask about access, correction, or deletion of personal information that we hold about you. We may need to verify your request before responding.

9. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the App changes, including when real-time list sharing, cloud storage, additional sign-in methods, analytics, subscriptions, or other online services are introduced. We will post the revised policy and update the effective date. If a change is material, we will provide additional notice when reasonably appropriate.
